An Introduction to Leadership

Hosted by Toronto Public Health in conjunction with ASPHIO at the OPHA office in Toronto, this workshop will help staff who are moving into a supervisor position and leaders who need to increase their effectiveness in the management of their staff. As well, it focuses on the issues, concerns and challenges inherent in working with peers and management to get across ideas and to get decisions made.

This is a reminder that registration is open for the 2010 APHEO Workshop in September: "OPHS for Epis - Figuring out the Foundations".
The Workshop Objectives are :
- To provide a review and refresher on the OPHS, with a focus on the Foundational Standard and the Population Health Assessment and Surveillance (PHAS) Protocol;
- To strategize how to effectively and consistently use the PHAS and other protocols to meet the OPHS;
- To provide a forum for public health professionals to share, discuss and learn about existing resources that can assist in the implementation of the OPHS;
- To share unique and innovative data sources, and plan how to use them for the purposes of population health assessment and surveillance;
- To exchange ideas and make recommendations for resources that APHEO could develop to support OPHS implementation, including the Core Indicators Project; and
- To provide networking opportunities for epidemiologists and other public health professionals.
We have secured some excellent speakers with expertise in the areas of Population Health Assessment, Surveillance, and Research and Knowledge Exchange, and look forward to your attendance.
