The Guelph Food Safety Seminar Series presents their 8th Annual Symposium
Evidence to Decisions: Turning Knowledge into Practice
October 25, 2011 7:30am-1:30pm Holiday Inn Guelph Hotel& Conference Centre 601 Stone Rd., Guelph, ON
The use of evidence in policy and decision-making is not simply a matter of sourcing high qualityevidence and presenting it to decision-makers but is dependent on the quality of the processes through which that evidence is put. Improving the quality of these processes means drawing on the fields of science, science policy, knowledge translation (KT), knowledge brokering and mobilization, as well as having a detailed understanding of government and industry in this regard. For the purposes of the Symposium, we define KT as "a dynamic and iterative process that includes synthesis, dissemination, exchange and the ethically sound application of knowledge to improve the health of Canadians…" (Canadian Institutes of Health Research).
