PRIORITY #1: Standardized food premise inspection reporting Request: The ORHMA recommends that the MOHLTC work with PHUs, the ORHMA and other stakeholders to develop a provincial program for restaurant inspection results reporting that will bring consistency throughout the province, to be enforced by PHUs choosing to exceed their minimum regulatory requirements.
PRIORITY #2: Standardized food handler training and certification programs Request: The ORHMA recommends that the MOHLTC work with PHUs, ORHMA and other stakeholders to expand the Food Safety protocol and develop provincial standards for food handler training and certification that will bring consistency throughout the province, to be enforced by PHUs who choose to have this program.
Furthermore, it is recommended that private-sector training bodies be centrally approved to provide the food handler training which is required for any PHU certification program. This ensures consistency of training and training materials but a variety of training sources and costs to the food premise operator.
