Workshops (Space is limited, please register in advance)
Workshop Information Package (Registration forms will be emailed to those who have registered for the conference)
How Do You Make Evidence-informed Decisions in the Absence of Sufficient Evidence? In this workshop, the NCCEH and NCCMT will illustrate what steps can be taken to evaluate the limited evidence pertaining to environmental health in order to inform decision-making. A case example will be used to demonstrate the process of critical appraisal of limited evidence and its use in decision-making.
World Café: Personal Service Settings: Evidence, Gaps, and the Way Forward The National Collaborating Centre for Environmental Health (NCCEH) will conduct an interactive world café style workshop to identify new strategies for public health protection in personal service settings (PSSs). This three-hour workshop will be facilitated by the NCCEH in collaboration with a PSS operator and a public health inspector, and will actively engage conference participants in the discussion and outcomes.
Media Workshop Participants learn how to deal competently and comfortably with reporters, and how to use each media encounter as an opportunity to promote their profession/organization. Spokespersons are taught the skills and techniques needed to control interviews, and to turn these situations to their advantage in order to: reach and influence/persuade target audiences, gain a positive profile and enhance the reputation of the profession/organization.

"I’ve been a member of CIPHI for almost 25 years and look forward to attending the annual provincial conferences to see old friends, meet new colleagues and hear about emerging topics in public health. Now that I work exclusively in infection prevention and control, this is one of my greatest opportunities to stay connected to issues in other areas of environmental health such as health hazard investigations and water safety. In the past as a CIPHI executive councillor I have had the opportunity to learn and grow, and look forward to continuing that experience as I volunteer on the 2010 Conference Committee."
